Economy, Small Businesses & Job Creation

Local Context: Missouri is home to over 500,000 small businesses representing 99% of state enterprises. Over-regulation in Jefferson City often acts as an invisible tax on small business owners, slowing rural growth compared to neighboring states.

My Core Commitment: I want to expand the role the state takes in assisting small businesses. The government should pivot from tax breaks and grants, and become an actual investor in small Missouri businesses. By becoming an investor, Missouri can become a recipient in a business's returns. I believe heavily in assisting growing corporations to expand further and even bailing out essential businesses that are failing - however - in both cases, I believe the government should become a shareholder. This seems like a bizarre idea, but it's fairly normal in literally every other country in the world.

Local Context: With more than 95,000 farms, Missouri ranks #2 in the United States for total number of farms. Despite this, thousands of rural Missouri farmers operate without dependable high-speed internet, crippling their ability to access modern commodity markets.

My Core Commitment: I will fight to exempt small, family-owned agricultural enterprises from state personal property taxes on heavy farm machinery and guarantee that rural broadband expansions reach the last mile of agricultural acreage.

My Core Commitment: I support raising the state-funded minimum salary for starting teachers to a competitive regional standard and shifting state educational funding directly to classroom resources rather than administrative overhead.

Healthcare Access & Rural ER Preservation

Local Context: Missouri has seen some of the highest rural hospital closure rates in the country. In several counties across southern Missouri, residents must travel over 45 minutes just to reach the nearest functioning emergency room.

My Core Commitment: My hope is to create a system where ALL citizens of the great state of Missouri have access to a primary care physician. Most medical expenses that the tax payer incurs is from expensive ER visits that can often be mitigated through primary care early on - think strep throat, stomach bug affecting your young one, fever caused by an infection, etc. Things that could have been solved with a cheap visit to a primary care doctor the same day. So why don't people do so? Because the private sector is allowed to collude and price gouge freely. It is beyond repair. The state should step in and control it. What I call for is simply creating no less than two sizeable clinics in each Missouri county that can handle the needs of all people in that county. The offices will be state owned. The doctors will be employees of the state. It's not a scary proposition. I myself lived a small stint in Puerto Rico - a US territory - where Children and adults could use state clinics for checkups for as little as $10 to $20. Missouri has 4 times the economy with only twice the population. It is easily within financial reach if we push for it!

My Core Commitment: I support direct state-level retention bonuses for county sheriffs and local police officers, alongside tougher sentencing laws for high-volume drug traffickers bringing illicit substances into our communities.

My Core Commitment: I will champion an absolute state audit of all major departments to root out wasteful spending and advocate for a mandatory expansion of the state property tax freeze program for retired seniors.
